Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS)
The MBS is a listing of the Medicare services subsidised by the Australian government and is part of the wider Medicare Benefits Scheme managed by the Department of Health and Ageing and administered by Medicare Australia.
MBS Items Online Checker
The MBS Items Online Checker can be used to determine if an identified MBS Item has been claimed for a specific patient within a pre-defined period of time.
The Online Checker will advise you if you are eligible to claim a Medicare benefit for that particular service, based on the patient’s Medicare history.

Practice Incentive Program (PIP)
PIP provides a range of incentives that aim to encourage accredited general practices to improve the quality of care provided to patients.
To be eligible to participate in the Practice Incentive Program (PIP), a practice must be accredited or registered for accreditation, against the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards for general practices and must be accredited within 12 months of joining.
Practices must hold public liability insurance and all General Practitioners at the practice must have current professional indemnity insurance.

Service Incentive Payment (SIP)
Service Incentive Payments (SIPS) are made to General Practitioners who work with a practice that is enrolled in the PIP. For information on the SIP payments please visit the Practice Incentive Program (PIP) on the Human Services website.
Practice Nurse Incentive Program (PNIP)
The PNIP provides incentive payments to eligible general practices to support an expanded and enhanced role for nurses employed in general practice.
