Within our region, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) accounts for 4.9% of the preventable hospitalisations and is the third leading cause of death.
The COPD Collaborative aims to reduce the number of hospital admissions in our region and will focus on improving the quality of life and wellbeing of people living with COPD.
The feedback from participating practices has been extremely positive. One of the outcomes saw the number of COPD patients with spirometry results increase by almost 50% during the program. More information about the Collaborative and its results can be found in our report Tackling COPD in Primary Care.
