General Practice in Aged Care Incentive
The General Practice in Aged Care Incentive, launched on 1 July 2024, supporting residents living in Residential Aged Care Homes (RACHs) by promoting regular, planned primary care from a consistent GP and practice.
Registered MyMedicare practices and eligible providers receive quarterly payments for meeting servicing requirements, including regular monthly visits and annual care-planning. In Quarter 4 (for patients registered between July–September 2024), practices must complete two regular services in separate months (one by the responsible GP) plus the annual requirements, two care planning services by the responsible GP and a minimum of eight regular visits across the year. Payments of $300.00 per patient per year for the responsible provider and $130.00 per patient per year for the practice, in addition to existing MBS/DVA rebates.
Practices, providers and patients must all be registered with MyMedicare to participate, and ongoing eligibility depends on meeting all quarterly and annual servicing criteria. GPACI offers benefits including Enhanced Care, Improved Health Outcomes and Continuous Care.
Full servicing rules, eligibility details and step-by-step guidance can be found in the GPACI Program Guidelines, the GPACI User Guide (MMM 1-3) and GPACI User Guide (MMM 4-7), the GP and Practices Information Kit and other resources such as e-learning modules, templates, and videos available on the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing’s website.
