What is this service?
The Street University helps you build skills, feel more connected, and get the right support when you need it. You can drop in any time to take part in free workshops, group programs, or one-on-one counselling.
This free service provides professional support for things like alcohol or other drug use, mental health, relationships, family stress, or just day-to-day challenges.

The Street University gives you the tools and space to take positive steps in your life. You’ll find a team that listens and programs to find the help, connection, and community you need.
You’ll benefit if you:
- Want a safe space to hang out, find avenues for self-expression or meet others
- Are feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or unsure where to turn
- Want support with alcohol or other drug use
- Need help setting goals, building confidence, or planning for the future
You can also ask a teacher, GP, or youth worker to help connect you to the service.
Eligibility
You can access The Street University if you are:
- aged 12 – 25
- living in or near the Penrith or Blue Mountains areas
Funding
This service is funded by the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.
Referrals
You can refer yourself to this service by contacting the service directly or attend as a walk-in during opening hours. Please check the service hours or contact the provider before attending. A referral can also be made by a GP, other health provider, family/carer or friends.
