What is this service?

This free program provides culturally appropriate support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people who may be experiencing alcohol and other drug challenges or mental health concerns. 

The program offers flexible support tailored to your individual needs, ranging from early intervention to more intensive support. You will work with experienced practitioners who will help you understand your situation, build coping skills, and connect with services that support your wellbeing.

Support may include:

  • therapeutic crisis intervention
  • clinical assessment
  • treatment planning
  • counselling and psychological therapy
  • assistance accessing other services, including social welfare support
  • mentoring and ongoing guidance

The program supports young people with low to high support needs, depending on your individual circumstances.

Eligibility

You can access this service if you are:

  • an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young person 12-25 years old
  • experiencing challenges with alcohol and other drugs or mental health
  • living in the Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Penrith or Lithgow areas

An assessment will be conducted before entering the program.

Funding

This service is funded by the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing. 

Referral

You can refer yourself to this service by contacting the service directly. Please check the service hours or contact the provider before attending. A referral can also be made by a GP, other health provider, family/carer or friends.
