What is this service?
After hours services offer an alternative to the emergency department when your usual GP is closed, either after business hours or on public holidays. They help to reduce unnecessary pressure on hospital emergency departments and ensures you can access appropriate healthcare when you need it.
Benefits
After hours services play an important role in supporting the community by making healthcare more accessible outside of standard GP opening times. They provide timely care for non-life-threatening conditions, helping you get the treatment and advice you need, when you need it. By offering alternatives to hospital emergency departments, these services help reduce wait times and ease pressure on the health system, ensuring emergency care is available for those who need it most.
- improves access to care outside your regular GP hours
