Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in Windsor - Tender Now Open

On 15 August 2025 The Hon Mark Butler MP, Minister for Health and Ageing and Minister for Disability and the National Disability Insurance Scheme, announced the release of the tender to find a suitable provider to deliver the Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in Windsor.

Wentworth Healthcare, provider of the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network, will be leading the tender process and overseeing the implementation of the service for the Commonwealth.

Wentworth Healthcare CEO, Lizz Reay, said she was pleased to be taking this next step towards the establishment of the Medicare Urgent Care Centre (UCC) in Windsor and encouraged local eligible providers to apply.

“We look forward to working closely with the successful provider to deliver this additional layer of healthcare support to the community,” she said.

Ms Reay added that while Medicare UCCs play a valuable role in the health system, they did not replace the need for people to have a regular GP for their ongoing health needs, including vaccinations, preventative health screening, mental healthcare plans and chronic disease management.

“Having a regular GP means that over time they get to know you, your medical history and your lifestyle, allowing them to better consider your overall health and preventative care needs. Developing a relationship with a GP you trust can also make it easier to discuss any concerns you may have about your ongoing health,” she said.

“A strong primary healthcare system is the cornerstone for healthier communities and we continue to advocate for sustainable funding models and workforce solutions that strengthen general practice and support long-term health outcomes,” said Ms Reay.
