Mental Health Support in RACFs
This new program will help address the current gap in mental health support in RACFs by providing psychological services similar to those available to people in the community under Medicare.
The pilot will initially take place in two RACFs, Uniting Springwood and Uniting Hawkesbury Richmond, for a period of six-months. During the pilot, an experienced mental health nurse will be providing support to residents identified as being affected by mild to moderate mental illness.
To access this service, residents require a diagnosis of a mental illness and a referral from their GP or a clinical nurse based at a participating RACF.
GPs can refer patients living in Uniting Springwood or Uniting Hawkesbury Richmond to take part in this pilot by calling our Mental Health Intake team on 1800 223 365.
