Improving Social Connectedness of Older people in the Hawkesbury
Who is this training for?
Anyone can be a Community Connector, you may already be well on the way!
Being a Community Connector is about having the knowledge and skills to signpost people, services, activities or information when you come across someone in your day to day life who may need it.
Neighbours, volunteers, hairdressers, taxi drivers, baristas, retail workers, pharmacy assistants, health professionals - anyone who has contact with older people can be a great Community Connector.
What will you learn?
This training will help you to connect people, particularly those who may be isolated, using your local knowledge and the new MyHealthConnector directory. This is locally tailored training to signpost local supports to people to benefit their health and well-being. This is especially important now!
Why be a Community Connector?
Older people without adequate social connections are at an increased risk of poorer mental health and well-being, negatively impacting their physical health and use of health services. The more people that know know about the support that is available in the community, the more we can all support each other.
There will be a small amount of pre-reading tasks to be completed in the week prior to the session and a short online follow-up to wrap up the training. More information will be provided on registration.
You will need to have an email address and internet access to participate in this training. After you register, we will email you a link to join the Zoom (online) training session.
