Coronavirus (COVID-19) & Respiratory Clinics

Please refer to NSW Health website for advice if you have travelled to or from Victoria in the last 14 days.

A number of options are available for COVID-19 testing in our region:

Some general practices may provide testing, or refer you to a private pathology lab for testing.

GP-led Respiratory Clinics

There are three GP-led Respiratory Clinics in our region, located in HazelbrookPenrith, and Windsor that can assess people with mild to moderate respiratory symptoms including fever, sore throat, cough and shortness of breath.

These Clinics are particularly helpful for patients with a respiratory illness that cannot be safely managed by telehealth alone and require a face-to-face consultation, when their symptoms are not severe enough to attend a hospital emergency department.

All staff working at the clinic will be in full PPE and where possible, will use a “non-touch” method of clinical assessment. The Clinic will assess people for COVID-19 and when needed, undertake testing. Test results will be provided by phone or SMS (both positive and negative tests), whichever is preferred by the patient, and will also be provided to the patient’s usual GP.

Patients who attend this service will receive clinical advice on how to best manage their respiratory symptoms and be referred back to their usual GP for ongoing treatment.

How do I visit a GP Respiratory Clinic?

In the first instance, patients are encouraged to discuss their symptoms with their usual GP via a telehealth consultation before making an appointment at the GP Respiratory Clinic.

Patients must make an appointment online prior to attending one of the GP Respiratory Clinics. (Our Bookings Instruction sheet can guide you on what steps are involved in making an online appointment).

Patients do not need a GP Referral before attending the clinic, but will need to show personal identification. The clinic is free of charge to all patients and a medicare card is not required to use this service (although you may choose to use one for ID purposes only).
