What is this service?
Through this free service, a dedicated support worker known as a Linker will help to connect you with appropriate alcohol and other drug, mental health and other health services in the Penrith area.
Benefits
Linkers can help connect you with the right service for your needs. In addition to alcohol and other drug, and mental health services, they can also assist with coordinating care and referrals to other services such as:
- Aboriginal medical services
- community health education events
- other mental health and wellbeing support
Eligibility
You can access a Linker if you are an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person 16 years or older who:
- is experiencing alcohol and other drug and/or mental health issues
- lives or works in the Penrith area (or surrounding suburbs)
Funding
This service is funded by the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.
Referrals
You can refer yourself or be referred by a GP. When you first access the service, there will be an initial assessment with GWAHS to ensure you are accessing the most appropriate service for your needs. GPs can find more information and referral details via HealthPathways.
