What is this service?
Medicare Mental Health Centres provide free mental health support in a warm and welcoming environment for people 18 years or older.
When you visit a Centre, you’ll have access to trained mental health professionals and peer workers with lived experience who will provide immediate support and connect you with the most appropriate services for your needs.
Safe Haven
Safe Haven, run by Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District and funded by NSW Health, is located within the Penrith Medicare Mental Health Centre.
Safe Haven provides a safe, welcoming alternative to the emergency department if you’re experiencing suicidal thoughts or emotional distress. Having Safe Haven located within the Penrith Medicare Mental Health Centre ensures that if you visit the Centre with higher-level mental health needs, you’ll be linked with the right level of support at the right time.
