Overview

All Antenatal GP Shared Care providers are encouraged to attend.

The prevalence of obesity during pregnancy has increased by 50% in the last two decades and the effects are far-reaching. Attend this session for the latest in general antenatal screening and care, as well as best practice guidelines for obesity and pregnancy.

Learning outcomes:

  • Consider appropriate tests and investigations for pre-conception and pregnancy
  • Describe to patients the effects of obesity on fertility, pregnancy complications, delivery and the post-partum period
  • Be familiar with pre-conception counselling options to educate and promote behaviour change in obese patients
  • Be aware of available obstetrics services at local hospitals
