This session is aimed at improving the recognition of warning signs for suicide risk and the development of collaborative safety plans. It incorporates the involvement of support people in the person's life as well as creating a network of health professionals and relevant services to assist the person in remaining safe. This coaching session is targeted at groups of up to 8 GPs and Practice Nurses and delivered by a GP mental health specialist.

Learning Outcomes:

  • List the key components of a risk assessment
  • Identify warning signs and protective factors for suicide
  • Develop a safety plan for a person at risk of suicide

Pre-requisites: participants must have attended

  • Talking about Suicide in General Practice or
  • Advanced Training in Suicide Prevention

Suitable for:

GPs, GP Registrars and Practice Nurses
