Facilitated by Lives Lived Well, a leading provider of alcohol and drug support services in Queensland and New South Wales. These professional facilitators provide Drug and Alcohol First Aid training to community and health workers and workplaces. They empower people with the knowledge and skills to support someone with a drug or alcohol problem. 

Overview

The Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network (NBM PHN) is pleased to offer Drug and Alcohol First Aid to community health workers, health administration, and allied health professionals in the catchment area.

Drug and Alcohol First Aid has been made available by the NBMPHN, after successfully delivering eight in 2017/2018; A workshop will also be delivered in Richmond (13 March 2019).

Upon completion of Drug and Alcohol First Aid participants will be better equipped to:

  • Recognise problematic drug and alcohol use
  • Describe the impacts of problematic drug and alcohol use
  • Identify the types of drug and alcohol supports and treatments that are effective in reducing use
  • Support people who have drug and alcohol problems
  • Talk to people about their drug and alcohol use in a non-confrontational manner
  •  Help and support people who have drug and alcohol problems
