Overview

This is a four hour face-to-face training opportunity for GPs and GP Registrars working in the Nepean Blue Mountains PHN locality.

Addiction is a chronic, relapsing condition which is difficult to treat. GPs and other primary care professionals have a key role to play in prevention, early detection and management of substance misuse and dependence.

The workshop will look closely at:

  • Withdrawal Management principles and case planning
  • Withdrawal for alcohol and other drugs/pharmacotherapy
  • Post withdrawal/detox strategies
  • Case studies

A light working lunch will be provided.
