Need help finding local transport options to reach health services?
Our Health Transport website has been created to help people living in the Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury, Lightow and Penrith areas to find options that might assist them in reaching local health services.
Our organisation has been undertaking ongoing consultation with the community since 2012 (as the Nepean Blue Mountains Medicare Local). As part of this consultation process, transport to health services and related issues of availability, distance, parking and cost was identified as the number one health priority in each of the four local government areas in our region.
This major issue led to the formation of the Health Transport Initiative, involving representatives from our four LGAs: NBMPHN, Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC), Transport for NSW, Roads and Maritime Services, NSW Council of Social Services (NCOSS), local health organisations plus many from local Community transport organisations, and Aboriginal services impacted by health transport disadvantage.
We have now published a dedicated health transport website to assist the community in finding suitable transport and related options when accessing local healthcare services.
