Urgent Care Clinics
The Commonwealth and NSW Governments have committed to delivering community-based Urgent Care Clinics/Services to ease pressure on hospital emergency departments and improve access to urgent care services for the community. These clinics provide free (bulk billed) care for urgent but not life-threatening illnesses or injuries that can’t wait for your usual GP. They also offer easily accessible pathology and imaging services, are open on weekends and public holidays, and provide extended weekday opening hours. Find a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic near you.
Penrith Medicare Urgent Care Clinic
We have one Commonwealth-funded Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in our region located at Our Medical Penrith, in Jamisontown (at Penrith Homemaker Centre).
The Clinic:
- is open from 8:00am - 8:00pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year
- is located at 2227 Wolseley Street, Jamisontown with parking available in front of the practice (additional parking nearby in the Homemaker Centre carpark)
- is walk-in only, no need to call ahead or to make an appointment
- has X-ray facilities, pathology and a pharmacy on site
- can treat urgent non life-threatening illnesses and injuries, that can’t wait for your usual GP, such as closed fractures, wounds (or injuries requiring stitching) burns, leg ulcers, gastro, conditions requiring IV treatment, urinary tract infections (UTIs), ear, nose and throat infections, flu, bronchitis, rashes, small abscess needing drainage and more.
X-Ray Hours
- Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
- Saturday, 1:00pm - 5:00pm
- Sunday, 9:00am - 1:00pm
Urgent Care Clinics do not replace the need for you to have a regular GP, who should always be the first point of contact for your urgent healthcare needs. Urgent Care Clinics cannot provide healthcare services such vaccinations, preventative health screening, mental health care plans or chronic disease management.
If you or a loved one has a life-threatening injury or illness, do not attend a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic. Do not attend an Urgent Care Clinic for chest pain or tightness, breathing difficulties, uncontrollable bleeding, severe burns, poisoning, numbness or paralysis, ongoing fever in infants, or if the patient is unconscious, unresponsive or having seizures. Call triple zero (000) or go to your nearest emergency department.
